Sachin was playing a wonderful knock. He was trashing all the bowlers all around the park. Yes it was World Cup match-1996. He was magnificent. I screamed like anything when he reached century. He scored 137. But India lost that Match.
This was the first match I watched. I was disappointed because India lost the match but I was very happy; reason is obvious. Sachin scored century.
The very next match India played against Zimbabwe, in that match Sachin scored only 3. I was surprised. My hero, SACHIN, how can he get out without scoring century? I asked the same question to my father. Then he explained me the game of Cricket.
In semi finals India played against Sri Lanka at Kolkata (then Calcutta). Sachin, as always was treating bowlers mercilessly. Dramatically match took a turn and India lost 8 wickets. India again lost the match against Sri Lanka. I was crying. After seeing Kambli crying, I cried a lot. I couldn’t control. At that time color TV sets were rare and we had one. People who came our home to watch the match were laughing at me seeing me crying. I still remember that night. Like any other Indian fan of cricket, I wanted India to win. From then Cricket has become integral part of my life.
